Arburg opens up regional office in Dubai despite the global financial crisis

German company displays a high-performance electric machine that reduces energy consumption by 50 % at Arabplast

Lossburg/ Dubai, 11 January, 2009: Arburg, a German machine construction company, has opened up its regional office in Dubai despite the global financial crisis. The leading global manufacturer of injection moulding machines is participating for the first time with its own stand at the Arabplast in Dubai that started today (Saturday, the 10th of January) until Tuesday (13th of January). This announcement was made at a press conference hosted by the company at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Officials from the German company said at the press conference that Arburg is putting more investments in the Gulf because it firmly believes that the region will highly demand its portfolio of products despite the credit crunch.

“The Middle East region is of high importance to Arburg's future. This region increasingly covers the entire spectrum of producing and refining crude oil, production of plastic raw material and plastics processing. In addition to the packaging industry, which has traditionally been playing an instrumental role in the GCC economies, the production of technical moulded parts and products for medical technology is rapidly expanding,” explains Helmut Heinson, Managing Director Sales, Arburg.

“This region is of a great significance to our global operations. This has urged us to open up a regional office in the UAE,” adds Heinson. For the first time, we are participating at Arabplast with our own stand at which we are displaying a vast range of medical solutions with a high degree of reproducibility,” says Heinson.

At Stand ZR110, Hall 1, Arburg is displaying its energy-efficient, electric Allrounder 570 A that provides a high-precision medical application capable of producing 48 barrels.

The Allrounder 570 A high-performance machine
The electric Allrounder 570 A will produce 48 barrels made from polypropylene. The part weight is 3.23 grams and the cycle time is twelve seconds. In order to meet requirements in terms of material preparation and throughput, the Allrounder 570 A with a clamping force of 2,000 kN is equipped with a high-performance plasticising cylinder.

Allrounder A: Main attribute is energy efficiency
The Alldrive series currently includes four machine sizes - the 370 A, 470 A, 520 A and 570 A machines. Together they cover a clamping force range of 500 to 2,000 kN. The main axes, with servo-electric drive as standard, enable simultaneous movements, thus facilitating short cycle times. The auxiliary axes can be driven electrically or hydraulically, depending on the customer's requirements.

The economical Allrounder A machines achieve optimum customer value, especially in fields where high performance is expected, such as in the medical technology sector and the foodstuffs, packaging and automotive industries. The electric machines operate with optimised noise levels.

The high efficiency of the servo-electric drives and the five-point toggle-type clamping unit of the Allrounder A ensure energy-efficient working. The energy recovery of the servomotors when braking also has a beneficial effect on the machines’ overall energy consumption. Together, these factors combine to reduce energy consumption up to 50 %. As a sign of their optimum energy efficiency in operation, all Allrounder A machines bear the Arburg “e²” energy-efficiency label.

Energy Efficiency Allround
This is one of the measures which Arburg has initiated within the context of its corporate objective, “Energy Efficiency Allround”. In terms of the efficient use of energy, the goal is not simply to produce the Allrounders and the entire Arburg technology using as little energy as possible. Rather, the company also seeks to use its products and expertise in order to efficiently minimise energy consumption among its customers' operations.

About Arburg:
Arburg, a German machine construction company, is one of the leading global manufacturers of injection moulding machines for plastics processing with clamping forces between 125 kN and 5,000 kN. Fields of application are, for example, the production of plastic parts for motor vehicles, communications and consumer electronics, medical technology, domestic appliances and packaging. The product range is completed by robotic systems, complex projects and other peripherals. Arburg’s operations are coordinated by an integrated management system and are DIN EN ISO 9001 and 14001 certified. Arburg is represented by its own organisations in 23 countries at 31 locations and by trading partners in more than 50 countries. However, production takes place exclusively in the parent factory in Lossburg (Germany) – with the mark of quality “made by Arburg - made in Germany”. From a total of more than 2,000 Arburg employees, around 1,700 work in Germany. Around 330 further employees work at the 23 subsidiaries and representative offices.
